WMU School of Lifelong Learning awards degrees based on the Recognition of Prior Learning concept.
Recognition of Prior Learning or in short RPL has gained popularity and acceptance among the academia and the industries as a form of formally recognizing and accreditation a persons non formal qualification and experience into Formal Qualification.
Wilmington Metropolitan University has developed a unique methodology to implement this process as a way to award Diploma/Degree/Masters to those with adequate experience. This is done via the Skill Workshop for Experienced Personnel (SWEP).
The Skill Workshop for Experience Personnel (SWEP) is the process for recognizing learning that has its source experience and/or previous formal, non-formal, and informal learning contexts. This includes knowledge and skills gained within the school, college, and university and outside formal learning situations such as through life and work experiences. Certification are offered under the RPL mode for all fields of studies;

Criteria for the Award
Exceptional Achievement and Contribution:
Outstanding accomplishments: The individual must have made significant contributions to their field, whether it’s academia, arts, science, business, public service, or other areas.
Impactful work: Their work should have a positive impact on society, culture, or the advancement of knowledge.
Recognition and respect: The individual should be widely recognized and respected within their field.
Alignment with the University’s Values:
Shared values: The recipient’s values and achievements should align with the university’s mission and values.
Inspiration for students: The individual should serve as an inspiration for students and embody the ideals of the institution.
Other Considerations:
Diversity and inclusivity: The university may consider the diversity of the recipient pool to ensure a broad representation of different backgrounds and perspectives.
Public image: The university may also consider the public image of the recipient and how the award might reflect on the institution’s reputation.
